781152	2009-06-10 21:06:00	I would say Computer Lounge. I don't like this about Playtech: 1 Year Return to Base Warranty ( Upgrade to 3 Years for $99 incl.GST ) Computer Lounge do it too but at least theirs is 2 years (still a rip off)	pctek (84)

781155	2009-06-10 22:28:00	Does the length of warranty realy matter? Surely the components are covered by manufacturer's warranty. And what is warranty anyway? How many computer owners have not opened their case and had a fiddle around inside? If they cause damage is it covered by warranty? Some manufacturers say if you open the case you void your warranty. Others may blame problems on regular internal dusting not done. Then what if you upgrade a componant? Should the original manufacturer be expected to continue the warranty? IMO if you computer is working on arrival, and still works after a month's use, that is all the warranty you should want or expect. If a componant fails within it's warranty period that is another matter. Whoever sold you the part can be expected to handle the claim and replace the part. And you should not be expected to pay a cent. In real life try and convince manafacturers of a certain nationality of that! My advice, if you want a custom built 'puter. Order all your parts from a single reputable source. I alwys use Ascent. Then get the same source to assemble it. Pick your parts carefully. Never, never, buy parts because they are the cheapest. Ask yourself "why are some brands noticeably cheaper?" Because they are rubbish! I have bought my last five computers this way and have had no problem of any sort with assembly or delivery. The odd component failure has been handled promptly and without arguement. Parts have even been sent before faulty ones are returned. My diagnosis (with help from PF1) has been accepted. Only problem now is Ascent no longer assembles computers.	JJJJJ (528)
781156	2009-06-10 22:33:00	i can recommend Ezone Computers on lake road. a couple of shops down from the Dick smiths. also there is I-Focus on Lake road as well in takapuna. If your in the ALbany/glenfield region you can try Advanced Computers.	sonar (14802)
781157	2009-06-10 23:20:00	Opening the case may void the warranty. If the system's something like a Dell / HP whatever. It may, or may not apply if you built it yourself. Or you got a shop to build it for you. The only thing that died in this (soon after I built it), was the hdd. It just died completely (within 3 mths). The shop did replace it, but it took 2 weeks for them to send me a replacement. Since it went from me to the shop, to Albany. Which wasnt a prob. I just used the other spare PC, in the meantime. Its similar to when my old P4 CPU got fried, because of the faulty power point the PC was plugged into. It was a few yrs old. I didnt bother taking it back to the shop, I got in touch with Intel, who replaced it. That took 2 weeks to get replaced. Because it had to go to Malaysia, checked out, then they sent me a replacement	Speedy Gonzales (78)

So why do they bother trying to opt out with 1 or 2 years on the thing? Opening it does NOT void the warranty . Not even if you add other parts . Breaking them does .	pctek (84)
