623547 2007-12-22 01:56:00 Dear all,
I want to use this ( . wikipedia . org/wiki/Image:NewTux . svg" target="_blank">en . wikipedia . org) tux image for a website that I am currently working on . According to the terms and conditions of re-using this image, it says:

The copyright holder of this file Larry Ewing allows anyone to use it for any purpose, provided that the copyright holder is properly attributed . Redistribution, derivative work, commercial use, and all other use is permitted .

My question is, how do I "properly attribute the source of the image"?

Cheers :)

623548 2007-12-22 02:08:00 Just use the line "Tux image © Larry Ewing." either in your website's footer or in a "colophon" page. sal (67)
623549 2007-12-22 02:22:00 "(c) Larry Ewing, Simon Budig and Anja Gerwinsk, from the Wikipedia Commons" would be even better. That shows who made the original image, who modified it, and where you got it. It's under the GPL, so noone's going to be too fussy about details, as long as you do acknowledge that it's someone else's work. Graham L (2)

Do you recommend putting that into every web page where the tux image is displayed? Or should I just mention it once under the "Credits" section?

Cheers :)

623551 2007-12-22 05:51:00 Your image comes under the creative commons license - specifically the attribution license where the minimum required, is to include a link. I checked this by asking the owner of a NZ photo/tourist site who allowed me to use his photo's on one of my blogs - as long as I included a link to his site. More info on creative commons photo license types can be found here (www.skelliewag.org)... kahawai chaser (3545)

623553 2007-12-22 07:08:00 "colophon"
I just checked up what is meant by "colophon" and now I get what you mean.:p

I would say that is a better idea than quoting the image in every web page.

Cheers :)
