2009-06-10 22:58:00 | Umm I take it you're / she's accessing hotmail through outlook express or something? Which is due to be stopped in a few mths. And I dont think you can scan hotmail (if she's using the hotmail site). With Avast. | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2009-06-10 22:59:00 | Welcome to PressF1. Hotmail is web based, and the only way to download it to a PC is by using windows live mail. If that's not installed and configured, there's no way to improve on what security you already have, but you shoudl be just as safe as if you were using a normal email address.

2009-06-11 08:32:00 | Hotmail has POP3 nowadays so you can access it with any standard mail client. The settings are provided here bit.ly and probably somewhere in the Hotmail help too. I haven't personally tried it as I have Live Mail at home and Outlook Connector at work. I think if you download or open anything from Hotmail any regular antivirus program will check that file. If you don't download or open anything, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

2009-06-11 08:35:00 | Hotmail wont work soon, since MS will be killing it (sometime in Sept ). Unless they continue it, but you'll have to pay for it. If you want to access it from within an email client. You're better off getting a gmail account, you can do the same thing | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |

2009-06-11 09:06:00 | He's talking about WebDAV support for hotmail. Means many email clients, including OE won't be able to be used with hotmail...

2009-06-11 09:22:00 | Hotmail is web based, and the only way to download it to a PC is by using windows live mail. If you have Outlook Express, you can still use it, but from September 1, 2009 you will need to use windows live mail or change Outlook Express to use hotmail pop server instead. Plus I think only old hotmail accounts (Ones that have been set-up for more then 5+ years) can be accessed by Outlook Express / pop, if you have a new account (One set-up in the last two+ years or newer then you wont be able to use any e-mail client to access hotmail) Hotmail wont work soon, since MS will be killing it (sometime in Sept ). Unless they continue it, but you'll have to pay for it. If you want to access it from within an email client. You're better off getting a gmail account, you can do the same thing I dont think so Speedy, if MS did that they would be one hell of a backlash to MS about this, so I dont think MS would be that silly to do that. I think you mean like what blam6 said MS is stopping WebDAV support.
