625076 2007-12-27 19:11:00 Did you watch "Outrageous Fortune" on TV3 recently? Perhaps you know the song and artist that they played as a theme at the beginning and end?

What do you think of the show? Faithful to the Westies? The show has a very good following, apparently .

I certainly enjoyed it . Have heard some that object to the naughty words but perhaps that is reality?

Wonder if anyone knows where is was shot? Looks a bit like Wenderholm . Certainly a great looking area .

625077 2007-12-27 19:18:00 Wow, one that I can answer for a change!

The theme song is "Gutter Black" by Hello Sailor, a NZ band originally formed in 1975 .

I'm an Outrageous Fortune junkie . Have no idea if it is faithful to Westies but the show is hilarious . :D

625079 2007-12-27 19:33:00 TV 3's website says it is mostly filmed in the studio, but the house they use for the West's house is in Te Atatu. Yes it is an awesome programme, very down to earth. Can't wait for the next series. Andrew B (867)
625080 2007-12-27 20:02:00 Thanks, FoxyMX. Glad to hear that you are able to feel useful. Always a good feeling, eh?

Interesting to note that a series like that can do so well. What happened to all these people who think American shows are great and NZ ones crap?

I expected someone to comment on the naughty words. No takers?

I think that most people, me included, identify with that type of programme. They look like us, talk like us - I think it's great. I know that it costs so much more to produce kiwi shows that to purchase overseas, but the kiwi shows are preferable.

More of the same, please.

625081 2007-12-27 20:22:00 I don't get to watch it much cos there's usually something else on, but what I have seen of it is great. An excellent series from little ole NZ. Greg (193)
625082 2007-12-27 22:46:00 The Outrageous Fortune soundtrack is an awesome buy if that generation of music is a bit before you. sal (67)
625083 2007-12-27 23:30:00 Missed the beginning and then it was showing past our bedtime . However when discovered how excellent it is I bought Series 1, then Series 2 on DVD, so dont have to miss a delicious second of it ! ;) Just have to wait for Series 3 to come out now :stare:

The film that was made as a Christmas special with them in the camping ground looks a lot to me like Shakespeare Regional Park, particularly when Cheryl climbs the hill

The show wouldn't be authentic without the naughty words but they are not overdone so I don't see it as a problem .

I don't look like, talk like or act like any of the characters on the programme so I can hardly say that I identify myself with them . :stare: :p

I know what you mean though, they are Kiwis and it is a darn good Kiwi show, which makes a nice change from all the American, British and even Oz programmes that we get .

One of the best things I like about it is how the family are extremely loyal to one another . When one of them is in trouble the others move heaven and earth to support them and help dig them out . Except for Loretta, that is, the selfish little cow .

Definitely more of the same please!

I have not yet had the pleasure of seeing most series produced in NZ or otherwise for some time. This due to work. What is the point of looking at a series on TV unless you can see all.

I do, however, wonder what you mean by naughty words.

Does anyone even know what the words mean? Does "Mother F" mean I had a relationship with MY mother which was not normal? Just possibly I had a relationship with your Mother after you were born which would mean that I am not your Father but I would be a "Mother F" so to speak.

As for your comment about "look like us, talk like us". May I ask who is "us"

You may be a person who judges a book by the cover. Please note I used the word MAY on purpose.
