Well thats what I read onto the story.

More people out there need to think "safety"

Why not wait until the relevant authorities investigate and report the facts of the case?

Hard to say as we don't know all the details. Depend on how he landed. lot of times helmets are not fitted correctly or the wrong size is used.

Nrrrta you seem to have a thing about safety on the road etc.
Do you have personal experiences ?

625070 2007-12-27 23:29:00 Parental supervision also seems to be a possible issue. You can't mollycoddle kids, but you can take reasonable precautions to ensure that they have a better chance of survival. That extends to fitted helmets, wearing helmets and a walk-around for hazard identification before turning them loose in unfamiliar surroundings.

Cheers

I was actually wondering that too.
But, given the appalling record of road safety in this country, it's a breath of fresh air to hear people like Nrrrta who actually care about these issues.
So many people don't care unless it's affected them directly. I wouldn't be surprised if most of you know someone who has been killed in a road accident.

One person who dedicated their life to road safety issues was Wayne Price, who sadly passed away a couple of months ago.

I met Wayne a number of times and was going to do one of this courses.
He was a man that believed in road safety and especially teaching young people road safety through his programs at Ardmore. He had constant
battles with the LTSA, because he wasn't doing their way.

If you want to read a book on road safety then I recommend you get
a book called Mind Driving. (Google it) The best book you could read.

625073 2007-12-28 02:58:00 I wouldn't expect so...probably would have been knocked unconsious and drowned anyway.

Just a freak accident, maybe he would still be alive if he was wearing a helmet, if I was the boys family, I wouldn't like to think like that, the whole "if only I had made him wear a helmet" thing will start in their heads, and they will feel responsible.

It's not their, or anyones fault. It is just an accident. And a freak one at that.
