624584 2007-12-26 02:44:00 I'm after Elton John's "Song For Guy" and would like to know what sites are safe for purchasing and downloading it from.

A family member has iTunes on the other PC but it's not currently set up for buying music. Would that be the easiest and best way of getting it, considering that I'll be playing the song on my PC and not on an iPod or with iTunes?

Hi Foxy
My guess is that Amazon at USD 0.99c would be a good bet
www.amazon.com

It is MP3

624586 2007-12-26 03:14:00 Try Digirama Elton John - Song For Guy (www.digirama.co.nz) I've purchased plenty of albums from here all good quality, and if there is any problems they are good people to deal with.

Had a problem with downloading a Album Once, they fixed it within a few minutes, and its in NZ.

You have to create an account, but once you purchase a song / album you can download it as many times as you want.

Pays to use IE.

I guess that Amazon would be reputable . Have you used it yourself?

Thanks Wainuitech, that looks good too .

Edit: Are the tracks MP3s or does Windows Media Player have to be used to listen to them?

Edit2: Never mind, I've found the FAQ section . :p

Hi Foxy
Have used in the past to get an appreciable number of CD's. They have always been delivered quick, at the very nearest end of the timescale that they have outlined. However, your desire is to download a specific track and I have not tried that because I use iTunes (have an iPod).

No doubt once you have downloaded one tune you will want others too. It is so easy. The site that wainuitech mentions might be your best bet since it is in NZ.

Whatever you decide suggest keep in mind you will eventually want other tunes - goes with the territory !

624590 2007-12-26 03:42:00 They are WMA, but can be played on many different Players, like Jet Audio (www.download.com) As seen Here (www.imagef1.net.nz) Its a song from the Album purchased a few weeks ago. It still has the DRM inbedded, but if you want to remove it to play on another PC, simply Burn the purchased Music to CD (legally allowed to) using WMP, then rerip to MP3 (or any other format it gives), By going into the settings of WMP and remove the DRM junk as in the players settings WMP Setings. That option is available when a CD is in the drive. wainuitech (129)
624591 2007-12-26 03:46:00 Cheers Wainuitech. Seems a little bit of overkill for my purpose this time though, as I don't really want the hassle of DRM and restrictions on what players I can use without having to burn it to a CD first. :(

I am after that particular song because it is "instrumental". I've got a cassette with it on but the quality after transferring it to the PC is rather poor and I want to use it on my DVD slideshow of personal photos. Somehow I don't think the NZ one will allow me to do that.

Looks like the Amazon might be the one to go for at this time. Thanks all. :)

itunes has it, but not in DRM free flavor. Since your use of it is some what suspect with NZ law's, might I suggest you just download it off limewire or similar. And no I'm not being a piracy nazi.

Not trying to be a WMG or anything but itunes does offer some DRM free songs . . . i don't think that there selection is that big though .

Plod is right, just limewire it .
