| 624515 | 2007-12-25 20:44:00 | how long should batteries last on average in a digital camera? I have a jujifilm Finepix A700, with extra heavy duty AA batteries, which seem to have died after 4 photos. i brought another pack and it drain them very quickly. is this normal? or should i take it back for a refund? | aidanmaz (7180) | ||

Many batteries are marked with pretty impressively descriptive names that are purely a testimonial to the advertising department. Panasonic Alkaline batteries work best for me. I use Panasonic because they are available at the supermarket at a good price and last well. Some models of Fuji can exhaust a set of batteries in a short time without even being turned on. The stand-by current in mine takes the batteries out in around 7 days of non-use, just one of the reasons it will be my last Fuji as well as the first. |

| 624518 | 2007-12-25 23:12:00 | Intresting the above, I bought some batteries about 3 months a go for my Fuji S5600. I would have taken 200 pics at full resolution and still looking good. Batteries Energiser Lithium. |

I normally use DSE rechargeable but was in Brizzie at the time and didn't have charger with me. |

Try the Eneloop brand by Sanyo I have found these NiMh batteries are very good at holding their charge when not in use. They are a bit more expensive than the std NiMh. DSE sell them |

Even cheap AA batteries should do more than 4 photos. They might have been old stock. I use Energizer e2 Lithium and 2500mah NiMH Rechargeables. I have 2 cameras that use AA size so have enough for all plus a spare set, plus the Lithium set as a backup. My Canon 30D has a different battery. The Lithium ones do last longer than the rechargables though for amount of shots per use, but they cost more long term. If you set yourself up with Rechargables get the highest mah rating you can get and make sure your charger can take that rating. You will get more like out of them than a lower 900 or 800 mah rated battery. |
