623889 2007-12-23 17:56:00 Just cruizin' with G-Earth this AM and I see a lot of really nicely well laid out land for what I assume is farming just toward that river South and West of Southbridge .

Pretty looking area . . and there's a lot of really neat and square houses there too .

Now . . over by the river (what's it's name?) is a small field with white roofs around it . It might be an athletic field . . . but it's not shaped too well . . . . it's on a back-bay with ocean access . . . . just wondering what that is .

If I were to guess, I'd say it's a lot of RV Trailers and motor homes around some sort of dirt bike or ATV area .

Here's the G-Earth co-ordinates:

566507 . 80 m E 5139951 . 03 m S

Another question: Is the area around Akaroa a private or government reserve? I don't see any buildings . . . but it looks like pristine fishing area to me .

Well if yesterday is all screwed up it is most likely the Governments fault.
Hope you dont mind the low income high tax

623893 2007-12-23 18:34:00 Here's the G-Earth co-ordinates:

566507.80 m E 5139951.03 m SWhen I put those co-ordinates into Wikimapia it takes me plonk into the middle of suburban Auckland. :D

As for Akaroa - no buildings cos it's way too rugged, unless you like your home on the side of a cliff.

The "circuit" on the ground is just the driveway - Rakaia Huts ( . selwyndistrict . co . nz/page . pasp?pageid=15" target="_blank">www . selwyndistrict . co . nz)

It's not clear to me if you bring your own RV or rent/buy one of theirs . . . but the fishing idea sounds great .

Hmmmm . . maybe it's not an RV park but what we call a campground with cabin rentals .

Is this basically a colder part of the country or more tropical?

623898 2007-12-23 23:56:00 You can get snow in Christchurch in the middle of winter, otherwise usually fairly temperate/mild. feersumendjinn (64)
