Kia Ora! Ko Jamus toku ingoa. No Malaysia ahau. Tena koutou, tena koutou, tena koutou katoa.

Good morning! Welcome to the unofficial virtual PressF1 member of the year 2007 award ceremony. It's great to have your company while recognising the most deserving member for his or her contribution to the online community.

Before announcing the chosen member for year 2007, I would like to make a virtual speech delivered in the form of a message to complement the award ceremony.

As one of those who joined PressF1 after the year 2004 changeover, I consider myself relatively new to the forum compared to some of the old-timers. Unlike some members who have been introduced by others, I knew of PressF1 forum from the PCWorld magazines that I read from my college's library. For me, PressF1 has been my first and is the best online forum that I have ever joined.

Over the years, I have witnessed an increase in the number of people who have signed up to be a member of PressF1 forum; some have signed up with a genuine intention of seeking computer help and / or assisting others with solving day-to-day computer puzzles.

Moving on to the subject of the moderators, I would like to personally thank Jen and Chilling Silence for their time and effort in moderating the forum. They have somehow managed to find time from their busy lives to ensure that the posted messages are appropriate for all age groups (though you have to excuse some of the jokes that are posted in "Monday Humour"). And for that, each of them has been given a Microsoft LifeChat ZX-6000 wireless headset, courtesy of PCWorld. Special thanks to the current administrator, Jan, and the past administrator Bruce for attending to odd requests such as changing usernames and resetting post counts.

PressF1 means a lot to some of us, and that includes me as well. We begin to feel like a very large family here. The online forum, generally has enlightened me and constantly raises my awareness giving me insight into what is going on in New Zealand as well as the wider world. It is good to have a variety of people, unrestricted by borders and nationalities all communicating, using the World-Wide Internet and free-speech to post messages relaying their thoughts and beliefs of issues so that we may be able to increase our own immersion into cultures, technologies and ideals, rounding out our knowledge of the world from our own keyboards.

I am aware that some members of the community perceive this award "as a form of competition to define status hierarchy". As the organiser, I would like to say that this award is purely for the sake of fun.

I would like to mention my personal thanks to a few individuals who have spent substantial amounts of their time helping me in solving my various personal woes:

1) Bletch: I can't thank you enough for all your help in debugging various CSS problems of my websites. To date, what I know about CSS has really stemmed from what you have taught me, be it directly or indirectly.

2) beetle: Thanks for providing me with the support whenever I am in emotional turmoil.

3) Dannz: Many thanks for your kindness in hosting my website for free.

I would like to thank R2x1, Laura, mark c, zqwerty, SurferJoe46, and other members who have pointed out and notified me about grammar and spelling mistakes that I have committed in my posts. In the process of reading messages posted by others, PressF1 has also increased my English vocabulary.

Lastly, may our much loved godfather successfully undergo his chemotherapy treatment and recover from his illness. We long for his return to PressF1.

And now, I am proud to announce, the year 2007 member of the year award goes to: wainuitech. On top of the virtual award, he will also receive a Microsoft LifeChat ZX-6000 wireless headset, courtesy of PCWorld. Special thanks must be made to our runner-up, Speedy Gonzalez. Despite not being the most-voted, his contribution has nevertheless been tremendous on PressF1. To date, he has posted the most messages on the forum. Thank you very much to all those who have nominated and cast votes for the deserving member and made the whole event a success! My sincere gratitude to the moderators who have helped me to ensure the organisation of the award goes smoothly.

(Speech edited slightly by R2x1 and SurferJoe)

Cheers :)
