| 781655 | 2009-06-12 02:17:00 | I have a Gigabyte M55S-S3 mobo. If you look at the picture, you'll notice there is a line of metal dots in line with the last PCI-E x1 slot (black), which is the length of the PCI-E x16 slot (blue) Am I able to upgrade the board for SLI by adding another PCI-E x16 slot? Or are they just there because it's the same PCB as the M55SLI-S4? I notice there is a molex connector just above the first PCI-E x1 which is labelled PCIE_12V, but it's sideways on the M55S-S3, unlike the M55SLI-S4 Is that for extra power for PCI-E x16 slot? www.gigabyte.com.tw www.gigabyte.com.tw |

| 781658 | 2009-06-12 05:37:00 | Yeah, possible but unlikely... you would need to re-program the chipsets to include the new slot etc. So the short answer is... it would be easier and cheaper to just buy one with 2 slots on it. |

| 781659 | 2009-06-12 07:56:00 | just because there is the conenctors there for it does not mean the slot would work. sometimes after the board has been designed they find that the slot won't work or be reliable for some unforseen reason. more often its left off and they put out another version of the board with more features that use it. often it will have different chips to support different functions. for the risk and hassle, chepaer to sell the board and buy another. |
