Also you seem very defensive Peter? you wouldn't happen to be the seller of some of this type of software?

You are best to contact trademe. Selling software that is otherwise free, you also could go to the software developers to inform them, as I am sure they wouldn't be happy about people selling their free software, and it is probably a breach of the software terms.

624354 2007-12-26 10:29:00 Trademe removed several auctions of this type a week or so ago. I expect so many are being listed at this time of year they are unable to keep up with them. Auctions are completing before the item can be removed.

Try asking questions to anyone selling the software. See what nonsense answer you get back if any.

624355 2007-12-26 21:56:00 just look at this advert off ebay, where the scammer has blanked out the titlebar in all of the softwares :angry

cgi.ebay.com QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

he even has the audacity to put this on there:

ATTENTION EBAY SHOPPER : It has come to our attention that due to the sucess of this auction there are other ebay sellers who have taken the liberty of purchasing our auction then copying the auction and software offerings at an attempt for there own profit. While it might be flattering it is stealing. We are working with ebay to shut down the stolen auctions and stolen software. I would suggest you purchase the original LEGAL software here and leave the copy-cats alone.

brilliant:lol:

actually, once you get through the swathes of infomercial like propaganda that makes ebay so hopeless to use, there's a bit at the bottom where they admit that you're paying for free software, but insist it isn't illegal. maybe if you're paying for their time finding the free stuff that works well that makes it semi-legal?

624356 2007-12-27 06:22:00 So - what's your problem? You don't have to buy it.

Maybe the problem is people selling something they down own. Usually called theft.

And the streams themselves pirate from other satellite and cable TV companies.

So no they don't have to buy it but neither should the people being ripped off.

Lets look at all the claims they make. Do the sellers write or own the software? No, they dont have the rights to sell it either as it's not their product.

I run a commercial streaming service where clients pay for hardware and software which they own. It's not free. But I don't make false claims about the services offered. It's pay content which the client has paid for.
