781666 2009-06-12 06:34:00 Earlier today, I accidentally tripped over the cord I had connecting my PC speakers to my BenQ monitor. The impact seems to have broken or bent the 3.5mm headphone socket in the side of the monitor.

The plug still goes in, but it is very loose, and if it is jiggled upwards the sound goes out.

I have just bought this monitor only a few months ago - so even though the sound still works okay, and the loose plug doesn't seem to be too much of an issue yet, I am worried about how easy it would be to get fixed.

Does anyone know where I could get this fixed and for how much, or perhaps know how I could fix it myself?

That'll probably work, or you can try taking it to QMB computers who are doing free monitor inspections. Royal oak

Would they really just take it back and send me another one? I purchased it online from PC Online Shop, and since I don't live in Auckland, I would have to send it back and pay for postage. Would it actually be worth all that trouble?

Does anyone know how easy it would be to fix on my own? As I said before, it is only a minor problem, but the fact that my new (and fairly expensive) monitor is now damaged keeps bothering me. :crying

781670 2009-06-14 07:50:00 I've dealt with PC Online Shop before. Send it to them paying your own postage, and they'll send it back at their charge after examining it Blam (54)
781671 2009-06-14 09:19:00 Well I'd say be careful . If the repairs people found out that the jack was distorted due to blunt force they have rights not to fix it, especially under warranty .

Good Luck .

781674 2009-06-14 22:12:00 Unless you were getting exceptionally good sound from your monitor speakers, just use some desktop speakers. If you don't have any, they are cheap on trademe. Driftwood (5551)

What exactly do you mean by "examining it"?
