| 781408 | 2009-06-11 06:25:00 | Hi everyone, I currently have a Vista/Ubuntu 8.04 Dual Boot rig, and occasionally I might pop a visit in Ubuntu. Everything's fine with Ubuntu, except that the internet is slow. Although I'm on dial up, I can only get about 1KB/s download:badpc:, while I can get up to 4.5 KB/s on Vista. Cause: I have installed a Conexant driver on Ubuntu from linmodems.org (I think?), and the license for free version clearly says that the speed will be capped to 14400bps. Question: can I get some other free alternatives on my modem driver so it will be running at least a bit faster? 14400 is sooooo intolerable, as everyone may know. Thanks. |
