781376 2009-06-11 05:43:00 I am using kiwionline dial up internet but my connection speed is only 53.2 kbps is this normal. How can i make my internet connection faster? xpuserchch (14996)
781377 2009-06-11 05:46:00 Welcome to PressF1.

That is a very good connection speed for dial up, you wont be getting any quicker than that.

If you need faster internet you will have to move to broadband or 3G wireless.

781378 2009-06-11 05:59:00 WOW I can only get 33.6kbps. Jealous. sammo450 (13626)
781379 2009-06-11 06:44:00 I normally get 48 to 52 kbs with KOL. I think they sometimes they use Orcon's servers if KOL gets overloaded... kahawai chaser (3545)
781380 2009-06-11 08:32:00 I doubt you're really getting that speed. Is this from hovering the pointer over the two-monitor icon in the systray? That tells you what the connection speed is you've set between the modem and the motherboard, not what's actually happening. I go to www.radiomods.co.nz and try their dial-up speed test.Of course it will always be influenced by the traffic. mark c (247)
781381 2009-06-12 03:09:00 your dial-up speed will be slow because your on dial-up Nictech (14748)
781382 2009-06-12 08:14:00 Yep its normal...

Well, I generally get 48kbps most of time, but when i disconnect and reconnect it gives me 52kbps (if im lucky 53.3kbps). Its works when its 33.3kbps as well:)

And Nictech... Some people cant afford broadband... especially in the middle of a recession

781383 2009-06-12 09:44:00 You can turn off images, it's what I do for Press F1 sometimes, which increases page load speed a lot. Here are some tips for increasing (www.blogcatalog.com) page loads for dial up, though in certain instances, and may require other utilities... kahawai chaser (3545)
781384 2009-06-12 10:29:00 I guess this is what you call REALLY slow: on Ubuntu 8.04, I have to use the free driver provided by Linuxant (well done linuxant), but the speed it capped at 14400 bps. As a result? My download speed hovers around 1.x KB/s, and down to zero sometimes! LynX (14542)
781385 2009-06-15 10:25:00 We used it a few months later we found it pathetic, we kept having crashes etc , Try another ISP TechProX (14940)
