626248 2007-12-31 23:46:00 Just bought this Samsung U3 2 GB MP3 player for my daughter. It claims that it has 15 hours of battery life, but we tested it and it actually lasts for only 3.5 hours of playing time.

Do you guys think that it's something wrong with this particular one and I should return it for a replacement?

Cheers

Quite normal listening volume, I have checked it.

626251 2007-12-31 23:56:00 Did u let it go flat, after you brought it. Then recharge it?

Does it use its own built in battery? Or did you buy them and put them in?

We charged it after opening from the box. Of course, we are using it's own battery, after all, it's brand new from the box.

626253 2008-01-01 00:16:00 Just had a quick look at some reviews. Samsung claim 15, the reviews are getting around 11 hours.
Did you charge the device for the recommended time?
Battery time I think is based on hitting play and letting the device continue through without scrolling through songs. Using the FM radio will use more battery time and so will having the volume up loud.

626254 2008-01-01 00:24:00 Whatever it is, 3.5 hours seems to be too short for what they claim (15 hrs).

There is very little instructions in the user manual as regards battery maintenance, e.g. charging & re-charging, etc.

Feel like taking it back to DSE for another make and model.

626255 2008-01-01 09:56:00 Don't think I should get another Samsung brand. What brand and model do you guys recommend? Opinions & recommendations from current users would be much appreciated.

Cheers

626256 2008-01-01 10:07:00 Well from me you are going to hear ipod, others will say creative.
I have the current shuffle and the classic. Partner has the nano. But these won't be any good to you if you want radio on it. I recommend flash drive players over hard drive based players
