| 782466 | 2009-06-15 08:35:00 | OK so in my haste to install an old Hdd in my new PC I Started to format one but then in a flash of brillance remembered that there were address's in emails that were stored on the hdd that I hadn't written down yet. So I quickly turned off the computer and turned it all back on again hoping that I could still see part of the drive and that they weren't lost forever. Now I can't see anything on the drive. The computer recognises that one is there, it's even assigned it a letter and all that. But no files inside it. Is there anyway I can recover these files off the HDD or are they gone to the big recycle bin in the sky? |

| 782469 | 2009-06-16 00:59:00 | If you use a Linux live CD there's a whole bunch of tools you can use. There's an overview of different tools at help.ubuntu.com Testdisk (en.wikipedia.org) can recover a partition you've deleted, that's probably all you need to use. You should be able to restore the partition and recover your files. I've done this once before myself. :blush: |
