782248 2009-06-14 10:45:00 Hey im looking for a really basic blog script that I can integrate into a new template I'm making for rob_on_guitar's website.

It currently uses the google blog but I want to simplify it so I can just add includes to the template for the blog rather than modify another blogs template to suit.

Anyone know of any? Really just after the ability to login, post and catagorise. And would be better if it didnt use a database

Cheers for any help

782249 2009-06-14 12:00:00 One way is to create a basic blogger blog using the simple "minima" 2 column template; I am not sure about the availability of blog scripts as such - but blogger blogs are based on XML, which if you know how to code in that format. But you would also need to host it, and get a domain, which are free at blogger (blogspot).

Many people, like myself, create temporary blogs in blogger for trial editing purposes. Perhaps do that, to create your minimum functions. You can further html edit to add (or remove) certain features/widgets, etc. You need a Google account to log in, and then maybe view the many simple blogs in the blogger site, that may suit what you want. Or search blog directories - Popular one's are My Blog Log, BlogCatalog, Top of Blogs, Blog engage, etc...

You could have it sorted in less than half an hour.

782251 2009-06-15 04:54:00 Sorry I dont think i explained well,

I just want to integrate the body of a blog into a page. Rather than customize a blog to look like the rest of the site.

here (http://www.robonguitar.co.nz/) is the page im talking about. ATM ive just embedded the "blogger" into the page which is hosted on googles servers. Just for tidyness I want to have everything local to my server. And the extra features that google offers arent needed

782252 2009-06-15 06:20:00 Okay - You mention the body, but if you want (I think) to embed posts from the blogger blog for display (like scrolling across in a box/slide show) in the site, then you need to set up rss feeds (i.e burn the blog in google.feedburner). You then use the feed url and suitable code to embed for post/article display.I know there is a "feed map code" in the feedburner account somewhere, where you can copy the code.

I hope I'm thinking what you want. Take a look at my CTL blog in my sig below, where I have embedded my posts (also view the source code, i.e search for www.feedmap.net) to scroll across the top L/H side. (These are posts from within the CTL blog). You could copy that and modify, but you need a rss feed url for the blog concerned (assuming you own the blog). You can modify the code for height/width, etc.

Google Gadgets have widgets to embed blogg posts/maybe the body, but again they require rss feeds. Visit blogspot tutorial (www.blogspottutorial.com/) (scroll r side tutorials), and bloggertipandtrick (http://www.bloggertipandtrick.com/) for script that might suit...

782253 2009-06-15 06:23:00 cheers for that, thats definitely put me in the right direction hueybot3000 (3646)
782254 2009-06-15 06:55:00 I would still go with wordpress.

To skin with that design you have would take about 5 minutes, also you have the option for a nicer galery page, mp3 player embedded on the page with or without a playlist, rss feeds....

And you would also benifit from someone who knows how to desing code without using tables.
