In other words, it must remain infeasible for the ciphertext to be decoded even when all pieces of the system but a single key are known to your opponent. I agree the security of the encoded messages absolutely depend on the keys (as it does with my cipher) but Kerckhoffs principle doesn't mean one has to disclose the methodology. As I have stated, the process won't be released until I have a couple of legal IP issues resolved. I had expected to see the reactions seen so far, which is encouraging. P.P.S I do realise that this is probably just for amusement. Giving people no clues, however, does not make for amusing hackery. Quite the opposite. It is a genuine challenge with a genuine reward if it can be cracked. If it doesn't amuse or challenge you then, no offence taken or intended, but you don't have to participate. I expected to be inundated with 'show us your code' requests and as I have said this will come, given time. I will go one better and release a working version of the cipher, once I have the issue of a restricted export resolved. Andrew |

I'm willing to bet that readily available computing power will outstrip current algorithms within the next decade :D. I agree completely. I have been working on how to break the PKI algorithms (albeit very slowly) and this cipher of mine is trying to get one step ahead of a) the break in public key security and b) quantum computing. I have written factorisation and prime number routines but I need to get them to work smarter to speed up the process....it may take a while. Andrew |

| 626383 | 2008-01-03 18:40:00 | Realistically, to present someone with a image as you have, and give absolutaly no reference AT ALL as to how its encoded is going to make it difficult and make people who know the logistics of it simply not bother even trying, you provide a little bit of information about how the cipher itself is encrypted, but nothing at all about the image representation of it - ive had a little play, but without knowing even for a start in which order one should try and derive values(eg, left to right, 1 line at a time, or top to bottem) from the pixels its just silly, any real cipher challange you are usually provided with atleast ciphertext.. For example one could do something as simple as output charactor values straight to pixels with some padding and simply mirror/flip..change the hue, invert the colors, write the pixels out in some random positioning and even that'd take 6 months for you to even scratch the surface lawl - ESPECIALLY when you dont know what the heck the output is ment be :) So perhaps supply the ciphertext derived from the image, but NOT the solution, then one can work on trying to produce the ciphertext from the image, then work on decoding the 'unbreakable' ciphertext. |
