626279 2008-01-02 22:18:00 I personally would be looking at the Creative range , Seems to me they have all the positives of the ipod, none of the negatives, Are better priced, and not even slightly homo. Metla (12)

It would seem you have a few homophobic issues going on metla? Not quite sure where you are in your life at the moment. You can foresee your closet door opening in the near future maybe?

626281 2008-01-02 22:50:00 As distasteful as the practice is, It makes great material for mocking people and their fashion accessories, Such as the Holy Grail of gayness the iPod.

After all, whats gayer, 2 blokes kissing, or 2 blokes kissing while fondling their iPlods?

ugh.

626282 2008-01-02 23:41:00 Hmmm....Interesting.

If they removed the reliance on itunes and made them slightly less gay they maybe worth $100 less then whatever they sell for currently.

You can get a 4GB nano for under $200 at HN, and I don't think you can get anything that compares any cheaper. It is also the brand that kids want, and has cover art. You can also other software instead of itunes

626283 2008-01-02 23:47:00 Dunno what the samsung was worth but if you are looking 4GB

Get this (www.playtech.co.nz)

Creative for me.

It is a very low resoultion screen compared to the nano, and uses oled instead of led backlit lcd, which will last longer. olcd screrens not as good as lcds yet. the nano is better value in terms of the quality and features of the hardware and kids lov them. Also I don't like the creative brand, I have had problems with the companies products in the past, and poor support via an international helpdesk.

626284 2008-01-03 04:02:00 I suppose it depends whether you want to buy from hype and marketing or the product that actually sounds the best. Not to mention line-in recording, built in microphone, drag and drop, FM radio etc etc.

Creative sound quality craps all over iPod and the extra features make the iPod look like an overpriced toy IMHO. But each to their own. ;)

Oh - and I have owned a Creative Zen Vision:M for a couple of years now with no problems at all.

Most of those things are not the most popular features. Sound quality is subjective, and also depends on how well the file was copied. FM radio would be handy, but podcasts make up for it for me, and you can buy a fm add on which adds FM to it. I would like both am and fm radio if I was going to have a radio on it. I can see apple adding fm radio in the future, as the ipod classic and nano will need new features in future models, to continue to sell.

Saying the Creative has better sound, or in fact saying one particular device has the best sound is very subjective and brave of you. I can't find 2 reviews on the internet that say the same thing.

Yes sound quality is very subjective, and as you age, your ability to hear different sounds changes. From the review I have read about the latest ipods, the saound is supposed to be better on the newer generations. I would suspect that sound quality is something that they could quite easily improve to if it was a problem.
Personally I wasn't impressed with the sound quality of creative computer sound cards when plugged into my stereo system.
