626028 2008-01-01 12:02:00 One more point. Perhaps I.C.E. can be renamed to A.T.E. (At Times of Emergency) instead? The logic is that with the contact name beginning with "A", at least it will be one of the first contact names to appear when the paramedic scrolls through the address book.

Otherwise, you can insert some symbols before "I.C.E." so that the contact (on some phones) will appear first and foremost.

Cheers :)

626029 2008-01-01 18:44:00 I suspect that the para (and regular) medics have had a serious semester on the alphabet, and now have an insider's knowledge (if only theoretical) of where "I" is hidden. To have them now transfer to an ante-alphabet location will require de-training and a further semester of training and the theory of searches. Think of the blowout in student loans :(

One big problem is that Telecom phones will only squawk that "Your call is important to us." and issue wailing and catterwauling. Just a part of Telecoms policy to torment their users into the grave, and beyond.

626030 2008-01-02 08:43:00 I had a friend who was a biker, he came off and was carted off in an ambulance... while transporting him back to the hospital, they found his phone (He was in a stable condition by then) and called the ICE number, his Wife.

Cant hurt, right?

I'm fairly sure Jamuz will come up with some pessimistic response to this.

Another use is of course for those who leave their phones on the car roof and drive off - or people who have dropped them when out horse riding. Due to my eagle eyed other half we have spent a fair bit of time over the years trying to find the owners of phones so we can return them.
