The game consoles are over the top. There is a big difference between theft and assault. A thief might just be someone who made a silly mistake & can be set on the right path again. It takes a particularly nasty person to assault another person. |

| 626809 | 2008-01-03 00:40:00 | My philosophy is that, if good civilians can't have luxuries such as the LCD TVs and what nots, criminals in prison shouldn't have them either. Ever. That is outrageous, how can such luxuries set someone's crooked mind straight? It's things like this about NZ that enrages me to no end. For the society's sake, these criminals should suffer so much they pray every night to be released. However I'm still fine with them having standard cheap CRT TVs. But giving them LCD TVs and game consoles is like giving a hobo a mansion and 2 Rolls Royces. |

| 626810 | 2008-01-03 00:42:00 | I can think of a thousand better things for my tax money to be spent on then even a single TV for criminals in jail, Hell, You have to be a right ******* to get put in the place in todays climate, Put a lot of effort into your campaign against good folk to get locked up. The money would be better spent of shackles and chains. |

I know dozens, from murderers to drink drivers, junkies who shoplift to Dick heads who beat women. None of them had it hard enough, even if they didn't enjoy the experience. And I couldn't give a sick poo stain if they shared a TV with 1 or 100 people, The Government hasn't bought me a TV to share with anyone... |

Why should the government use much of OUR money to give those prisoners TVs that are worth thousands of dollars? Just get them a few CRTs that only costs a couple hundred bucks. These prisoners are meant to have fun at all - and these TVs and gaming consoles provide them with entertainment - is that really what we want to give them? We want to give them HELL, not entertainment! |
