629176 2008-01-10 17:52:00 My new monitor will be here this morning. A 22" lcd. Wide screen.

My current one is a 19" square screen.

Just wondering if I can run the two of them together. I didn't intend to, but have decided to if I can.

My idea is to run flight sim on 22 and ancillary programs on 19. Will this work?
Both are Viewsonic.
Will both work off same driver? Or will they need separate ones?

I see a problem with running one in 1600 x ? and the other at 1880 x 1040.

Will my 850w psu be OK for both?

Vid card is 8800 GTS with 800 megs ram.

629177 2008-01-10 18:12:00 I take it that you have two outputs on the video card and if so you only use one driver for the video card.

You can use both monitors. Monitors do not come with drivers.

The PSU will not be an issue.

Thats a good idea, you can watch both at once.

I too have the 19" square and feel quite deprived.

629180 2008-01-10 19:38:00 If your current graphics card is like the one you had previously with two outputs for monitors then yes, you can run them together. The PSU shouldn't be an issue as LCDs suck less juice than CRT monitors.

You'll have to resize program windows on the smaller screen to fit but otherwise there should be no problems running ancillary programs on the 19" screen, other than slowing down your Flight Sim, maybe. Oh, and finding room on your PC desk. :p
