Security with Vista is almost like fitting a full house anti-theft, hot line to security, monitored GPS tracking device on a pedal car. ;) ;) Sorry, I shouldn't do that. :D |

Your Vista laptop can now be rootkitted by anybody on the same network, probably completely untraceably. Yay for Microsoft's most secure OS ever! | TGoddard (7263) | ||

| 628651 | 2008-01-09 14:28:00 | Possibly not even people behind NAT are safe - NAT routers send TCP packets directly to your machine (after mangling the IP headers) if they're related to an existing outgoing connection or the port is forwarded, and the article didn't say that the flaw only applies to newly established connections. That said, you'd need to connect to a compromised box for this to have any effect. If you're on a public network, the compromised box can connect to you! Note that this exploit affects more than just Vista. |
