628892 2008-04-30 11:35:00 Ended up going with the above advice, especially after I got HN's salesman admitting Phillips was dodgy junk.

After a bit of haggling, I got the Samsung LA46N81BX 46" 1080p LCD for $3500 cash.

More than I wanted to spend but for the quality, I think it weighed up.

Whats your guys opinions on extended warranties? The Samsung comes with a 2 year manufacturers warranty, HN wanted to add in an extra 4 years @ $366, I declined. But it took a long hard thought to come to that conclusion..
Actually paying for the extra warranty is a scam and money making racket by the dealers. You are covered by the CGA which is law.

How will the CGA look after me beyond 2 years though? Is it just that a $3500 TV should last longer than 2 years, therefore if anything goes wrong I should be covered? Or am I way off track? Sounds good though!!

628895 2008-05-01 00:09:00 My next TV will be full 1080 with at least 3 HDMI ports and 42" plus and hopefully in about 12 months also have built in Dual HD Decoders.
I would only choose from Panasonic or Sony.

I can wait a while but probably in about 12 months have all Full HDTV's in the house, including having the new MySky2 HDTV box sending to all TV rooms in the house.

628898 2008-05-01 02:12:00 My filthy rich Sister in law has her entire house set up with state of the art Bang & Olufsen huge HDTV plus around the house accessories with built in most things, it seems to do almost everything except open beer bottles.

I think even winning NZ Lotto would barely cover what she has for her home entertainment.

Jealous?, you bet.
