Sanyo 47-inch LCD TV review
www.nzherald.co.nz

With a retail price tag of $4299 the Sanyo compares well to other full HD TVs on the market - The 46-inch Sony Bravia X-Series costs $5999 and Samsung's 1080p 46-inch LCD sells for $6999. Both sets have better inputs, slicker design and higher contrast ratios. But for the price, the Sanyo is a very good buy. Don't bother going that big if you're not into home theatre - watching movies and playing hi-def games and the like. That screen real-estate will be very much wasted if you plan on staying in the standard-definition world.

Good: Well-priced, full-HD, decent sound.
Bad: Position of inputs, remote control, contrast ratio not as good as rivals.
Price: $4299

628846 2008-02-04 22:11:00 My father paid 10 grand for his Plasma, I have no doubt we get exactly the same amount of enjoyment from watching whatever crap is on TV.

Oh wait, I'm happier because I didn't spend 10 grand on a TV.:xmouth:

We still own a 25" CRT TV.
I might replace it one day. When its dead.

Same as me.
Will replace when more faults are sorted, they continue to improve and am prepared to wait in view of faults.

Bought same one Boxing Day. Amazing difference watching videos but TV is not that much difference. Wall mounted it to avoid little hand prints.

Had to say I felt a little conned. I had originally had my eye on Samsung but in the store side by side the Sony had a noticeable colour difference, more brighter. Sony also had Twin picture which is more of a novelty, which has worn off already. When I was going through the settings I noticed that the Sony 'colour' settings were cranked right up to 100% :stare: I can only guess that all Sony's are set that high so they look better on display. Still happy with purchase though.

I like it very much paticularly watching widescreen DVDs. When watching TV which is not broadcast in widescreen mode yet, I have the TV set to normal mode so the pictiure is not stretched, but the trade off is that you get black bits either end of the picture. I have been to some peoples places who have widescreen TVs and they watch everything in widescreen, but to me it looks weird. I also notice that if a shot has alot of one colour in it either green or red etc there is a slight tinge of that colour over the whole picture. Don't know whether that is common with all makes of LCDs, but the picture is acceptable.
