628682 2008-01-09 08:35:00 Being a reseller myself I can tell you a bit of "customer retaliations " goes one hell of a long way.

If there's a problem , customer contacts me - I contact supplier(if needed for an RMA) - advice the customer of turn around time to fix/repair what ever - get item from customer- send it or take it to Manufacture/repair center.

Return to customer ASAP, or as in the case of a current PC thats going to take a week to get replacement parts ( supplier doesn't have them in stock currently) put in a loan PC for her work.

End result - customers happy - Repeat business.

Where's the brainer?? :waughh: :D

Honestly, if Dick Smith worked anythng like that I would be a happy person.
However we are buried so deep in management rubbish that such actions would be impossible.

Also I completely agree on the idea of a loan computer, the only time we are able to do such a thing is when we have a very cheap ex-service or returned machine on hand (which is very rare), otherwise we are not allowed to give out new merchandise as loan stock as it would reduce its value far too much (not that head office allows us to discount goods anyway).

I edited the post before While you "quoted" oops! - the loan is a old clunker thats made of rubbish parts - wouldn't win any performance tests :) but its only a stand in.

628685 2008-01-09 09:12:00 Loyalty to your employer is laudable in most circumstances. However, what works on the floor, may not work in the court.
Whatever the head office is calling it to enhance the "beans in the pot" figure, breaking the law is not really a great base for their (lack of) service policy. Protocol, con-act, or policy, it is illegal - deliberately flouting the law is rather unsmilingly regarded in some quarters that are capable of grinding slow and small. H/N. N/L, DSE may consider themselves above the law, but there are a few rather strangely costumed fellows with a team that can show retailers a trick or two. The funds to squash these retailers will strangely enough be provided by the self same retailers, since the team with the funny uniforms own the pitch, the bat, the ball and they write the rules as well as collect the prizes and match fees from the losers.
And for your own part, maybe you should refer all warranty claims to someone senior that you dislike. Let them break the law while you are washing your hands.:help:
Ignorance of the law is not considered a good excuse, even if you have amassed enough ignorance to be awarded a bean countership. :waughh:
Crikey very touchy, doesn't take much for true colours to show(pink).

628686 2008-01-09 09:29:00 Bright red - indignation. Been a day for dealing with one of the chain stores and a bit of duck shoving. It is strange that it is easier to get stroppy with these cretins when it is somebody else they are stealing from. If it's me, I tend to shrug and never return. (Long ago.)

Presumably, taking the margin and evading the responsibilities makes them blue?

We all have a choice of where to purchase, seeing as how these places do so well it must be assumed that they do most things right.
When on the odd occasion they do something that is not to our taste, reason says talk to them.
It will be noticed that all this is based on hearsay.(above discussion)

628688 2008-01-09 10:10:00 My day was based on "there-say" and "their-say". I was there, and they said - - - -
It was resolved, but there was a bit of a blue, faces were pink and red, the air was blue at times, but they finally buckled and accepted their obligations. They provided the replacement parts, I the labour. The computer is working now, not waiting two weeks plus, and the customer now understands why a computer shop is really not a bad place to buy a computer. Chain stores may not be a bad place to buy chain - - -
(But I think I would go to a hardware shop to buy the chain, maybe the chain store to USE the chain.)

628690 2008-01-09 21:07:00 Deep breasts? Good idea. That will indeed feel better. R2x1 (4628)
628691 2008-01-09 21:12:00 Shouldn't even try and defend such a rort, Its not the customers fault if the point of contact at the shop has no idea what he or she is on about.

And yes, I can imagine HN and DSE telling a supplier to get stuffed, I'm sure its been done many times in the past, Hell, The manufacturers need the resekllers far more then the reseller needs the manufacturer, They can always source low quality laptops elsewhere.

Low Quaility?, your having a laugh.......HDD do fail, HP dont make HDD's.....
