| 628822 | 2008-01-09 20:36:00 | I just bought the TH 37PV70AZ 37" Panasonic Viera, it has 720p HD, not he full 1080p HD. I have been wondering if I should of perhaps gone the whole hog and got the 42 with full HD, however I put the sometimes grainy signal down to 1) poor signal from Sky , which will be upgraded this year (Apr/May) & 2) I have yet to sort out the cabling. At present i am just using coxial cable and the signal I think it only has 150 lines, however i have been told that component cable will increase that by 4. I did get to see a HD signal on the 37 when in the shop just to confirm it looks anygood, and to be honest, you couldnt see the difference between 720p and 1080p from 2m away. We have only to wait for Sky, then we will see some great improvements. After all said and done, the new plasma screen looks 10 x better than the 21 CRT we were viewing on, some sky signals are better than others, some oversea compressed rugby looks ****e, but guess thats because the screen is better along with the pixels. I have game cables, DVD component, coxial Sky, RCA digi-cam & vga PC cable for the laptop all hooked up, 1024 x 724 is no greater resolution than my laptop, however, with the long vga cable, surfing the net is pretty awesome on it......LOL |

| 628823 | 2008-01-09 20:43:00 | Just 1 thing to note, if you use consoles a lot, the LCD may be a better option, some games have constant images which can burn-in or leave retention if left on for a lot period. None of the manufacturers actually state how long a period, however i have kleaned from other forums that 48 hrs on same image (ticker-tape, channel logo, game menu etc) will produce retention. But 48 is a big session...... | SolMiester (139) | ||

| 628825 | 2008-01-09 21:42:00 | There are a couple of things worth waiting for: Integrated DVB-T tuner so you could get Freeview without a seperate box. and LED backlight but this could still be too expensive. |

| 628826 | 2008-01-09 23:24:00 | Has anyone got any opinions on the Samsung LA40S81BX ?? Im considering this as they have a fairly good deal going at noel leemings at the moment (bundling with a $600 dvd recorder/160gb hd recorder for $2499 - www.noelleeming.co.nz ). I have a xbox 360 elite so will be hooking that up via hdmi, dvd recorder via hdmi, computer via vga, original xbox (with xbox media centre) via component.. But i really need an idea on the screen itself. Have only found 1 review from some south african website.. | garvani (13266) | ||

| 628828 | 2008-01-09 23:45:00 | So, spend big or regret it? Bugger that, I'd regret spending big on a device whose primary function would be to display mindless low-rent dribble aimed at the retarded, Interrupted by moronic programs that demonstrate nothing but how stupid the TV networks consider their audience to be. I bought the cheapest LCD in stock at HN,An $1100 Toshiba, 32". Plenty big enough, Image quality is as good as all if not better then some in the 32" lineup at the hell hole selling them. Sure as hell wouldn't be prepared to spend the extra cash for a tiny size increase, Or the "my god, What did I get for my money" crap that comes packaged with buying whatever they want to sell as mid-range or high-end for that week. Whats next gourmet burgers at McDonald's:annoyed:. However, I do recommend people convert their shed into a home theater, and pack her with a projector and a killing machine audio system. |

Several I looked at were fine with DVD's but PC attached -:yuck: Utter rubbish. At the end of the day its your choice. |

Looks like you have all the right connections for it, the only thing with LCD, is they arent as good as plasma for refresh speed. They are though better for consoles in that you will never get burn-in if you leave the signal static. However, plasma has the better upscaling apparently!. |

If there was a bit of logic in that argument one would answer . The more expensive ones at the moment have latest improvements, next year these bit will be half price, the fact is refresh rates and that 100 do da I posted are only in the top end,for which you have to pay . Do not attempt to reason with that logic . |
