627804 2008-01-07 01:21:00 have you tried these guys (bedfordparts.co.nz). I stole the link from trevs post

Thanks I know about Lance the Bedford God. But the price he would charge for a winder would run the American war effort in Iraq and Afganistan for a few more decades. Even the price if idiots take on Iran at the same time.
My P wracked neighbour seemed to think a Hillman Hunterstang might of had 1/4" square window winder.
Good for some went to truck wreckers, the clowns are on hoilday till next monday, bugger.

Thanks

627805 2008-01-07 04:23:00 If you are talking 1/4" square, if i remember right the old Triumph Heralds had those (and some other Pommy cars of similar vintage), go ask your local vintage/veteran car clubs or look out for any swap meets in your area: maybe you could modify a lever type house door handle (screw a twistable knob to the end), they are 1/4" square drive I think. feersumendjinn (64)
627806 2008-01-08 20:13:00 Could try:
Google UK for British websites (simply more Bedfords there, or at least until the emissions laws kick in fully, assuming old cars aren't exempt)
UK car forums (like above)
Look in the classifieds of NZ Classic car magazine (available at the library)
Hope these help!

627807 2008-01-09 05:13:00 We actually call those handles "window regulator handles" here...the regulator is the device that uses a gearset or cables to raise or lower the glass. SurferJoe46 (51)

I dont really care if its a Bedford one or not. The bus was made in New Lynn Auckland they would have used what ever they could find I suppose.
I just want a handle with a 1/4" square hole in it and round knob at the other end.

Thanks

627809 2008-01-09 06:22:00 Just use any handle that will fit over the square shaft and drill a hole through both and attach with a pin or small bolt. Safari (3993)
627810 2008-01-09 09:59:00 Use Vice-grips, oops, sorry it's a Bedford - use Mole Grips. :groan:

(Obviously, you will have problems trying to upgrade an old version of Windows Winder.)
It may pay to clean, lubricate and examine (with a jaundiced eye) the window mechanism lest the new handle go the way of the old one. Usually, the driver's one gets busted and the passenger's one gets bandicooted to replace it.

627811 2008-01-09 23:45:00 There was not a handle fitted to the pax side, the @#$%^ idiot who fitted the pax seat fitted it too close to the side. When you sat in the seat your left elbow got pinged with the stub for the handle.
I have moved seat to the right 4 inches. When I moved the shaft with a crescent there was the sound of falling rust and the window dropped into the side of the bus.
The rail was completly rusted out.
Made new rail from Jappo car door found on side of road.
The regualtor mechanism has sprockets and what looks like bicyle chain.
Got it all working just cant find a handle yet.
I was going to kill the !@#$ who modified the bus but he is already dead.
