628730 2008-01-09 08:38:00 Today my internet has gone to complete rubbish speeds, connection is still 3200Kbit but download is 1000kbit or less

two friends of mine who have go large the same as me are both having slowdowns, but the real odd part is another guy who has gasp wireless, and his normally 3Mbit is running at 200Kbit or less

Anyone else having problems or is it just the 4 of us?

628731 2008-01-09 08:55:00 Sounds like Telecom at fault. Again.

628732 2008-01-09 09:06:00 It sounds like a Exchange problem, as the internet seems fine here in South/East Auckland on Xtra Go Large. stu161204 (123)
628733 2008-01-09 09:09:00 I suffer with a Vodem, so things would have to get REALLY bad before I would notice. ;) R2x1 (4628)
628734 2008-01-09 09:32:00 I wouldnt be surprised if its this KB941644 update that came out today.

It updated the tcpip.sys file.

After this was installed I noticed downloads were slower. BUT I got a file a few hrs later. Things sped up.

628736 2008-01-09 09:50:00 My internet's gone slower than usual the last few weeks but I just thought that was normal with the traffic AND the fact that I run 98 se and a lot of the clean up utility programs (like in wainuetech's sig) don't work with such an old OS. Dunno what crud I've got anymore coz I can't get a program to find it. Apart from HJT, but then I have to go through it manually which isn't much of a chore coz it's really short. But yes I have heard lots of peeps say they started off on a whizz-bang connection speed and since then it's got worse.
I blame telecom. (Seems obvious to me. After all they are in it for milking the cash cow not providing a service.)
cheers.......m

It's been horrible all day, for 4 of us, with 2 different ISPs and several different computers

Probably just coincidence

628738 2008-01-09 11:57:00 both my backspace and delete keys began to get stuck down today - now THAT's a coincidence

and a reason to get a new keyboard...

but actually on topic: my download speed is piss poor as usual, but for some reason my upload is hovering around 66kbps rather than the usual 130

628739 2008-01-09 18:23:00 Always crap here. Connection drops out EVERY SINGLE NIGHT, when it's most convenient for Xtra. qazwsxokmijn (102)
