628587 2008-01-09 04:58:00 Hi, Has anyone signed up to the new Fusion broadband and phone line from WXC?
I know it is pretty new and would like to hear of anyone's experiences with it.

Before I join, I would have to get an analogue phone adapter (PAPT2) so it would work with my wireless router and am just wondering if it would be worth it.

628588 2008-01-09 07:05:00 After Bletch advised me of the existence of this service I am pretty keen. So, I am curious too.
I have hooked a few friends up to Xnet, they are universally pleased with the service, a connection that avoids me having any dealings with Telescam sounds quite like magic. (And the No. 2 evil Empire that I am using via a Vodem seem to be getting ever slower and more erratic. Given that at it's best it was not too swift, and unreliable on a good day, things are getting rather unpalatable.)
A service like Fusion SOUNDS almost too good to be true. (We all know what that usually means.)

628589 2008-01-09 08:32:00 Xnet's VOIP is brilliant (I have it) but you will need to be careful if you use a PAP2T/ATA rather than a router with VOIP built in, as you will need to implement QOS/traffic shaping on your network to stop other net traffic disrupting your VOIP. Don't use unsupported devices unless you know exactly what you're doing - stick to the linksys ones that Xnet recommend.

Xnet VOIP will perform best if you have Xnet broadband too - their whole network is designed to give their VOIP service the highest possible traffic priority.

Could it be the name "Fusion" brings to mind the efforts of some other ISPs? Fusion is something that you might wish to happen to someone else, in the physics sense. If it's the biological sense, it will probably make us fat too.

I have had VFX for over 2 years and as Bletch has said it's brilliant. I use
a Linksys 2102 ATA. We are moving to the UK for a few years and I am
keeping the VFX service going. I just pack up my 2102 and I can then make
free calls to a local number in NZ.

I've said this before.
It didn't work for me.
I had the SPA2102 too.

Incoming calls would not ring. No matter what phone I plugged in.
Eftpos would not even connect.

Hey wmoore - you're moving to the UK? Have you got a job there? What doing? Keeping your house here?

628593 2008-01-09 21:37:00 Mmmmmmmm........... I might wait a while before I jump in to this. Need more info, apart from actually phoning WXC for it.

The PAP2T is a Linksys ATA approved and preconfigured for VFX so I'm told, but it would have to work with my Netgear DG-834G Wireless Router, can't afford the one with the built in Voip capability as yet.

628594 2008-01-09 21:45:00 It will work just fine with your router, just don't expect a top-quality phonecall to work at the same time as heavy net use unless your router has QOS. Note that you may need to set this up, it's often not enabled by default. Erayd (23)
628595 2008-01-09 22:28:00 I have had Vfx for about a year now .Its quite good.Sound quality is excellent

I signed up fusion about two days ago and was rung by a girl from Xnet saying that my telecom should be disconnected today which was yestereday. On their website it stated 6-10 working days but mine was disconnected within 2 days.
