783174 2009-06-18 04:30:00 I have Sony Handy Cam 40GB DCR-SR46 that came with a Sony Picture Motion Browser V3.0 software to enable you to burn videos to DVD.

I download the movie from hard drive of Camera onto to PC and then i burn the movie files (MPEG-2 which the software automatically creates) onto DVD using default setting of software with no problem.

Hoever when i play the DVD on my TV, it plays fine except after halfway
the video starts distroting and making n squeaky noise bit like when your Sky digital TV starts getting interrupted during boradcast and images start being jittery and audio is jittery too.

As the clips are fine and so is the few DVD disks i tried, i chose to install Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 and thinking the basic software wasnt burning the data properly. Bit like going from MSpaint to Adobe Photoshop

But now i cant hear audio from the same clips that play fine in Picture motion browser. This is when i play clips on PC using Sony Vegas software. Havent burned anything on DVD yet as was just testing to see if the clips play fine under this software

I can see Picture Motion Browser created .mpg and corresponding .moff files for each clip.

Is there someway i need to tell Sony Vegas software to associate audio with the MPEG files? i thought audio was embedded into the mpeg file ??

Has anyone used Sony Vegas software?? I look at it and feel so inundated with all buttons and options. I just realy want to burn a simple DVD and cant understand why is it so difficult arrhhhhhh :(

Please help or share tips

783175 2009-06-18 04:34:00 How did you transfer it?? Does it have firewire?? If it does, use that Speedy Gonzales (78)
783176 2009-06-18 04:39:00 Well i transfered the clips from Camera to PC using the USB 2.0 cable that came with it.
And the clips play fine on PC.

783177 2009-06-18 05:09:00 OKay after trying all kinds of search string combination in google i found this forum post at www.dvcreators.net :

Since DV camcorders capture video lower field first, FCP capture presets and sequence presets are lower field first, as they should be, so interlaced fields proceed in order. However, when encoding video with Compressor, the field order is reversed, leading to very unpleasant, very jittery motion in the MPEG2 file (or H.264 or whatever).

If you are encoding MPEG2 for DVD delivery, make sure you create a custom preset with Field Dominance set to "Bottom First"–otherwise your DVDs will be painfully, horribly jittery

I looked up in help topics for Picture Motion Browser but nothing came up. I cant make head or tail of what setting i may need to tweak if the above is really the cause behind the jittery stroby playback of the DVD
