1440625 2017-10-09 21:00:00 Haha! Just received a scam call from yet another Indian sounding guy telling me I have been given a grant from the NZ Govt Grants, of $6200 ! Awesome! Would be useful if it were true, I just told him “Yeah, right” and hung up.......

1440626 2017-10-09 21:54:00 Interesting tactic. They've woken up that windfalls into the millions just don't happen, and lower amounts such as $6200 are more believable. I went naked a few years ago, and since then I don't get advised of any such, although I must admit I miss the occasional frisson ... WalOne (4202)
1440627 2017-10-09 23:29:00 How come I haven't had these fun ones?

I could think of a whole heap of responses and awkward questions for them, I know a bit about Govt grants....LOL.

Haven't had any of the exciting you have a refund coming from IRD either....:-(

Just got the IRD one yesterday. The amount was so small I felt insulted.

1440631 2017-10-11 07:24:00 A couple of years ago I got a call saying that I was going to jail because I had committed tax evasion or fraud. I knew that it was a scam that was going around at that time so I just hung up on them.

A week or two later I got a call from the real IRD saying that I had a refund of $6200 coming my way. This was because I had overpaid my student loan. The money appeared in my bank account a few days later. This was good enough to be true.
