I agree that abstaining from voting is a perfectly legitimate option when you disagree with all the options and is one which I have used.

I recall thinking that what I was being asked to do was akin to choosing between the Black Power and Mongrel Mob gangs, with the Filthy Few, Hell’s Angels and Head Hunters as options.

Regretfully, there was no box to exterminate the lot, otherwise I’d been applying for early voting. ;)

Another thing I find bizarre about voting in General Elections is that to Drive a Car you have to have a license to say you are capable. The same goes for Electrician’s, Plumber’s, Doctor’s and so on.

However, to vote for who runs the country, the most important job of all, you don’t need any qualifications of any sort.

I know, through their parents, of a couple of guys in their 40’s who have carers and are still encouraged to vote. I guess the carer does it for them and effectively gets two votes. :confused:
