"As interesting as this nearly century-old article might be from a modern perspective, however, it isn’t substantive evidence either for or against the concept of anthropogenic global warming. As documented elsewhere, the warming phenomena observed in 1922 proved to be indicative only of a local event in Spitzbergen, not a trend applicable to the Arctic as a whole."

1439748 2017-09-26 17:31:00 I'm still not 100% persuaded to think humans are totally at fault here .

It seems to me that anthropogenic global warming isn't just from humans, to whom I equate their effect as something like a fly on the back of an elephant - the elephant in this case being the whole earth .

I know that human spoilage of the environs is something about which to contend, if not in a minuscule way, but in the end the earth seems to be moving in somewhat of a sloppy-ellipsoid cycle being ever-so-gently augmented by massive dosages of CO2 from carbonated beer, methane from flatulent bovines, and some rather obscure although non-naturally occurring gases and photo-tropic chemicals .

The Death-By-Human Stupidity Charts, pretty and colorful as they are, are only valid for the past, oh-- say, twenty gazillion years - which is just a tiny drop in the water bucket of earth becoming cool enough for life, et al .

I'll cite California's draconian vehicle emission laws, if you will allow - something about which I am more than lightly enlightened and concerned . Well - not so much 'concerned' since I don't live there any more! .

I digress .

I am now and forever retired from being a California State Emission Control Installer, Adjuster & Inspector for almost twenty years .

The CAL/EPA did marvelously in corralling NOx or Nitrous Oxide, and the photochemical "Smog" best known as "that damned brown gunk in the air that never leaves" over the SoCal Basin .

The haze is consumed, on a 24-hour duty cycle, by the same bacteria that thrives on it --- and tire rubber .

NOTE: Have you ever seen mounds of tire rubber alongside the freeway where googles of rubber from tires is/are being liberated to the tune of tonnage - and multiples thereof? I bet : NOPE .

There are no piles - large, small or tiny - that exist along the freeways because (wait for it): BACTERIA EAT IT FOR BREAKFAST (Brekkie? NZ?), LUNCH, and DINNER/SUPPER .

This same bacteria eat the long molecule photochemically reactive smog particles that is/are/am from diesel trucks, cars (VWs?) and (remember that LA/Long Beach is a huge-o ocean shipping/receiving port) --->

Big-Ass Smokey Ships .

But that stuff is being contended-with and by the bacteria - that is both humane and righteously so, because somebody's gotta feed them bacteria! [fist pump, x2!] .

Therefor, we can totally discount the visible 'smog' as handled, in a bio-logical way .

Hooray for humans feeding their pet bacteria! :nerd:

Truly though --- LA and the local cities that ring it are in a giant toilet bowl that seldom gets flushed unless offshore prevailing winds sweep it away into (nowhere?) ---> harmlessly out into the western Pacific ocean .

We call them 'The Devil Winds' or 'Santanas' that raise the basin temperatures to over 100F (NZ = a few points over normal human, non diseased basic temperature) .

These blisteringly-hot, high-speed compressive winds create conditions so dry (single digit humidity) that you had better not stroke your cat for fear that your head will explode as the spark jumps from it to the chandelier .

OK - that's not always a good thing for the cat's gene pool, but these stinky, eyeball burning, nose running, snotball coughing-up emissions have been vastly curtailed and for the most part - removed .

The brown yuck-for-sky has almost certainly disappeared by now - oops! Not totally so though!

The return of the yuck-sky has heralded more Draconian Laws that are pushing even heavy drayage purveyors (semi-trucks up to 80,000lbs) - into the electric-motor and batteries like a Prius 'vehicle' regimen - bringing everything to our doorsteps . [Hear me, Amazon and WalMart!!! Get them drones a-flying!]

The reason why there's more yuck in the air: THERE'S MORE CARS, TRUCKS AND SHIPS .

But like I said: that's handled! And a non-smog thing

However . . . . . . These same laws are really putting the financial bite to the shipping companies right now . But therein rises another specter:

Long term resident-politico and all around good guy Governor Jerry Brown --> (California's own El Supreme-o Nut-case In Charge, ex priest, ex-dater of Linda Ronstadt and Sire Sagacity in Holy Form, called: "Governor Moonbeam" since he decided that California was going to launch it's own space station and go to the moon, not to mention seceding from the Continental United States by putting four million outboard engines on the coast and running them in reverse to pull California away from the rest of The Union) - says it's for the good of California, if not the world .

Besides, they can just tax the rich people - oh, wait --> most of the uber-riche ones are leaving California (called: Tax-Flight) .

In a nutshell - it's beer, bovines and electrical cats that are the problems here - not humans!

!

I will say that we don't improve things .

But as there have been 5 (that we know of) extinctions before, we can't be blamed for all of them .
Things happen, the planet warms and cools as well .

But that doesn’t excuse the fact that the Ice melted and reformed whilst we were pumping huge amounts of carbon into the atmosphere.

My old 1936 V8 would have to be good for melting a ton of ice whilst idling for a minute. ;)

Then there is the small matter of the plants.

You see they actually grow much better and greener with up to 4 times the present atmospheric level of CO2, which is why so many commercial growers use CO2 generators to increase the level of CO2 in their Greenhouses, which in turn increases the growth speed and size of their crop.

So effectively reducing the atmospheric CO2 levels will starve the Plants, Trees and Vegetation.

What to do?

Easy, leave the Ice to look after itself as it has in the past, leave the Vegetation on a diet knowing it will only improve until the CO2 levels increase fourfold, kick this Pseudo Science into touch along with all the beneficiaries of it and wait for consensus among genuine scientists.

good job, kill off the plants :)
rotting vegetation is a producer of methane, and methane is a worse greenhouse gas than CO2 .

So we have to get rid of them .
but not untill we get back to warmer climate levels enjoyed by our ancestors, yes it used to be warmer (off and on)

In 1922 ?? The amount of pollution globally would be infinitesimal compared to present day.

It seems the California vehicle smog laws continually covers exemptions (recent legislative bill (leginfo.legislature.ca.gov)). What about classic car owners? Pre '76 cars are exempt I think - Has to be 1000's of AMC's, Chevs, Mustangs, roaring around California (2017 Vid (www.youtube.com) from Muscle car owners in SoCa)l. It seems then - that smog from such vehicle owners is minimal...

1439755 2017-09-27 09:15:00 I see where this is going with all the Cal/EPA exemptions and such .

Just keep your cat from being on a mixed-species blind date with a cow, driving a 1970 Corvette while drunk .

AMCs?

Not that many as most older ones were crushed to make Korean cars .

Chevys?

Yup -by the thousands - but they aren't DDs*

Mustangs?

Not so much driven as they have suffered from 'Planned Vehicular Obsolescence" in that they self-destructed .

Now pardon me as I just got up to go to the bathroom and the Studio 'puter was still on . I'm going back to bed at: 03:15 .
