Bugger all really......even with Winston, all that negotiating and I see nothing startling. It will be ~interesting~ when min wage goes up to $20hour , as planned . Thats 40K for an unskilled worker |

| 1440545 | 2017-10-25 04:35:00 | It is a pure con job. As the minimum wage rate goes up so does every other wage rate and so does the cost of everything to pay for it all. It is called inflation. Those at the bottom are no better off they only think they are winning. Carried to extremes you end up like Zimbabwe or Venuzuela. |

Wonder who is going to dig into the kitty to pay this, might be a few "please explain's" behind closed doors -- Seems nothing's going right for National. Good job he's on the outer now. |

And let's not forget no-one will see the $20 for three years from now anyway. In 2020 the net present value will probably be even less than the new current minimum is worth now. But Jacinda and her finance man have both probably never heard of discounted cash flows let alone understand its principles. All they're counting on is that a lot of water will have passed under the bridge by then and the average voter will be swayed by $20 and other election bribes. |

I beg your pardon Dave, but Steven Joyce has impeccable qualifications when it comes to finance. Hell, he passed 3 out of 11 Economic Papers at Massey University, what more do you expect? I suppose one could argue that is a good effort for a Finance Minister by todays standards. :D LINK (en.wikipedia.org) |

I predict a big future for him, in Australia, they love his brand of lying, scheming and spin-doctoring. I for one would happily contribute to his one-way ticket there. |
