1440208 2017-10-05 00:21:00 I have a friend who's struggling a bit and has no computer. I'm thinking of buying him this one (www.trademe.co.nz), which seems well spec'd for the price. Could I do any better without having to pay more? Greg (193)
1440209 2017-10-05 00:34:00 An ex-lease i3 or i5 would have better specs for the same price, but it'll obviously also be older. Just a thought.

A few places I can recommend for ex-lease gear, had good dealings with all of them at least once :)

1440210 2017-10-05 00:43:00 +1 for an ex-lease notebook. You should be able to get something with an i3 or i5 processor and a SSD for that money.

Something spec'd like that would absolutely dominate the one in your link. I wouldn't wish a laptop with that spec on my worst enemy, it will run like an absolute dog. :2cents:

Edit - that particular one in my above link is probably a pretty good option itself.

1440211 2017-10-05 01:48:00 Another +1 for an ex lease notebook. Definitely look for Intel, the AMD laptop chips are horrendous. Nick G (16709)
1440212 2017-10-05 02:19:00 Hmmm, I really detest end user HP stuff.
I'd go with that Dell in the link......

"CPU speed 1.4 GHz"
Thats a spec from last century. :)

as above, ex lease would be considerably faster & cheaper . Although chances are the batt would pretty tired , and make sure that ex lease actually has a valid Win licence (some dont)
