631441 2008-01-18 05:15:00 Terrible to hear of another brutal murder of an overseas girl just trying having a good time in NZ.

But it was interesting to see video of her on the 6 o'clock news but the police can't release the surveillance video of the theft of the CV's from the Army museum in Waiuru !

631442 2008-01-18 06:47:00 Well, if the police have the CV's on video, the crims should be easy caught.
But then, if the CV's are as evasive and misleading as most CV's seem to be, maybe not.

631443 2008-01-18 07:11:00 Could well be a matter of quality... many organisations have this stuff installed on a tender basis - the lowest price and all that that brings. Some of it is not worth the tape that it is on. Scouse (83)

I have always beeen amazed at the crap quality of cctv image, some is so blurry you couldnt id bugger all. You would think now days if cell phone cameras have megapixel quality they could make the cctv images more defined.
You can bet the cctv image from Waiberia VC break in is crap and if the crooks had masks on it wouldnt matter.
The police are selective when a biggy crime happens one day they arent commenting about the crime and the next they are begging for information.
They cant have it both ways.

Yes very true. Also a lot of camera are placed to high up and all they capture
is the top of someone's head . Also most crims wear hoods etc, so that does not help either.

631446 2008-01-18 15:08:00 We have around 500 cams set up around the country. Most are good, its just that laws are quite anal in what you can and cant use. We have seen our fair amount of activity only to be stopped by people not willing to press charges, somebody else in the incriminating frames (who isnt involved) doesnt want it released...

The list goes on and on, then you try and get the police involved, sometimes that in itself can be an exercise in patience due to their shortages.
