International Space Station will appear in NZ skies at 8.59pm; will take 3 minutes and be most visible from Auckland

15 January 2008
The International Space Station will shoot across New Zealand skies tonight.

The station is expected to zoom across the sky at 8.59pm and although it will be able to be seen in various parts of the country, it will be most visible in the Auckland region.

Stardome Observatory spokesman Graham Murray says the station will be less than 400 kilometres above earth and will cross the sky in about three minutes. Because of its proximity to Earth, it will be a lot brighter than Jupiter.

Does any know where in the sky we can see it tonight?

Just enter NZ and your city

Anyone would think that this was a once off event by what the media is saying. We've been watching this thing for the past year. It's been visable over NZ just about every day for the past two months. Must be a slow news day in Wellington..

ISS is the beast.

Enter your home town and you will get all the info you want. Look for the new "ground track" where the flight is superimposed on a map of NZ
