2009-06-22 00:33:00 | How many modules? Are they the same type and brand? | pctek (84) | |
2009-06-22 00:50:00 | Have you put them in the correct slots for dual channel? | Blam (54) | |
2009-06-22 07:39:00 | Yes I've tried every possible combination. I have two modules, both the same brand of course, and my mobo has 4 RAM slots. Combinations of slots that i've tried: 1,2 - 1,3 - 1,4 - 2,3 - 2,4 - 3,4 Only works in the 1,3 combination. It's not the mobo. I've tried it with others. Help? :waughh:

2009-06-22 08:53:00 | 1, 3 That should work in dual channel. The others may not as, there are special slots on the mobo for each. On mine theirs 2 black(1,3) and 2 blue. The black slots are the "faster" ones Asus recommends. Blam

2009-06-22 10:08:00 | Only works in the 1,3 combination. Well that sounds right. One pair in 1 and 3, the second pair (if used) in 2 and 4. If only one pair then 1 and 3. Look it up in the motherboard manual - it explains which slots belong to which channels.

2009-09-19 11:34:00 | no you're wrong... i quote from the manual: "If two memory modules are to be used to achieve Dual Channel mode, we recommend installing them in DDRII_1 and DDRII_2 DIMM sockets." | pingu45 (13461) | |
2009-09-19 11:39:00 | But its not something that they can just recommend, with two sticks itl either work or not | hueybot3000 (3646) | |
2009-09-19 22:10:00 | no you're wrong... i quote from the manual: "If two memory modules are to be used to achieve Dual Channel mode, we recommend installing them in DDRII_1 and DDRII_2 DIMM sockets." Check carefully as DDRII_1 and 2 probably refer to like coloured sockets (usually interleaved) and not adjacent ones. This would bring you back to slots 1 and 3 being the correct ones. Mmm, just looked at your mobo pic and see the like coloured sockets are adjacent. Need to look further.
