630845 2008-01-17 05:10:00 Yeah I think using text language will hinder you later in life when you try to apply for a job, etc so that's a yes from me. jason_f90 (3544)

Hell, I just figured if we were going to over react to someone using txt (OMG BAN HIM, Hell never get a job, Do they think that is a language?), We might as well go all the way....over the shark.

Methinks an over reaction to a sensible discussion about the use of txt speak on an online forum where the use of a standard keyboard is the norm. Most here are saying that the use of text is ok on phones, however not so here. I use the occassional OMG, LOL, ROFL etc but surely commonsense should prevail when someone types - cn u pls hlp wif prblm wif putr nt wkng...... (hell I had to work hard to come up with that and I dont even think it is right but you get the picture)

Surely it is not asking them too much to use the language they are supposed to be learning in school when typing with a full keyboard to a mixed unknown audience. When using a phone to a known group then text speak would be acceptable.

Banning would be harsh, I would more like mods just to note to poster that text speak is not really acceptable so poster realises the standard required here. It would be similar to the different register you would use when talking to mates as opposed to addressing a group of strangers - you accommodate to suit the environment.

Sometimes ignoring childish behaviour is a better option than responding and being drawn into a pointless discussion, works with my kids.
