| 630623 | 2008-01-17 09:30:00 | ... OJ Simpson, who'll have the slowest time around the track and then refuse to get out of the car. Lindsay Lohan who'll crash the car and abuse the camera man. Mel Gibson, who'll drive drunk and then hurl anti-semitic abuse about.... Actually, it sounds like it will make a good comedy. |

| 630624 | 2008-01-17 12:16:00 | Actually, 5th Gear with the original (top gear) Tiff Needall is a better show though not as funny! sorry, while they do also cover bikes occasionally, i've also seen a lengthy segment about investing in personalised plates and that stupid woman complaining that a lotus elise 2 seater sports car didn't have enough luggage space:yuck: i much rather watching a reliant robin bolted onto a rocket, space shuttle style, fail to detatch from the fuel tanks and explode on impact with the ground:lol: and a presenter rubbishing a rubbish car and explaining why they think it's rubbish (so occasionally when they get it wrong you know why), is NOT something an american show is going to offer and the british humour is hilarious - american stuff will be lame as usual Oh dear. Another Sadam supporter.. Oh dear. Another Bush supporter.. seriously, the US should just stay the hell out of foreign nations and they might find that terrorists aren't so keen to attack them plus of course the little detail about how saddam executed all terrorists being lost to the general media, means that several trillion US dollars, 25 thousand US troops and over 150000 iraqi civilians later, people still think attacking iraq is somehow going to fix the 3000 americans who were killed in the 9/11/01 attacks:groan: |

The Americans dont have a small car to like the Robin to attach a rocket to, since they made the Nash Metropolitan (best car to come out of the USA) C1 |

Will watch a couple more before I make up my mind but unless they can keep up a good story line it will just become another "The Fugitive" or "Bionic Woman" which looks like it's come to an end in the US after 8 eps.. |

| 630630 | 2008-01-18 03:44:00 | The British show is ok and if something is wrong with the car they say. If the American show slags off at a car the manufacturer will sue their ass. The Americans dont have a small car to like the Robin to attach a rocket to, since they made the Nash Metropolitan (best car to come out of the USA) C1 From Wiki: "Nash Motors negotiated with several European companies, until on October 5, 1952, they announced that they had settled on the Austin Motor Company (by then part of BMC) and Fisher & Ludlow, both English companies based around Birmingham. Fisher & Ludlow would produce the bodywork, while the mechanicals would be provided, as well as final assembly undertaken, by the Austin Motor Company. This was the first time an American-designed car had been entirely built in Europe." From me: My mom had one of these disgusting little cars in 1959. If I remember well (I'm old...trust me here) it also had a 6 volt cyctem that refused to turn the engine over even in the most pristine of weather. If the sun went behind a cloud, it would just click once or twice and the owner was supposed to wait for the thaw in Spring to get the wheezer-engine started. The engine was a flathead, made about 2.5 horses and when you woke up in the morning the first thing a proud owner of a Metro went out to the driveway where it had been parked the night before to make sure it had not spontaneously rolled over on it's side during the night. Wanna talk about the "ball-n-socket" gear shift? It fell out into your lap if you decided to try to shift too quickly. The headlights looked like two Zippo lighters inside a tin can for all the light they emitted. The weatherstripping on the doors and windows crumbled off in your hands..and the rule was to "never..ever touch the rubber parts" of the car. .....also they were the worst mush-buckets in turns and if the fenders didn't touch the road on the outside of the turn (like an outrigger) the vehicle would roll over into the opposing lane, the tree on the sidewalk or a traffic signal. Brakes? Open the doors and drag your feet. There was NO owner's service-intervals chart or maintenance recommendations...they knew the car would not last long enough to require any. Yup..fun fun fun. We used ours for target practice when we moved into the woods in Connecticut. If you need rocket fodder...let me know the name of a Brit car and perhaps a rider to sit in it at lift-off. The radio worked good...the tubes would glow to the beat of the music...I know what I'm saying here. |
