2008-01-16 21:47:00 | I will use a little text language in a text message, but I prefer to write it out it full, I only use text if there is not enough room to put what I want in the message, and the odd abbreviation I will use, but not over the top. Text language is not a real language, it maybe shorter, but it takes longer to read for most of us... :2cents:

2008-01-16 22:14:00 | Txt is not a language. It's a shorthand designed to fit a specific use. No different to the shorthand journalists ae taught to use so they can take accurate notes quickly while interviewing someone. If newspapers published journalist shorthand and responded to reader complaints with "whatever" I think there would be an outcry. The fact that kids seem to not understand the difference between language and a shorthand form of writing it to solve a technical problem is a bit pathetic. And what many of these kids may not realise is that their inability to communicate clearly with half way decent written English is why they don't get call backs after going to job interviews/submitting CVs ....

2008-01-16 22:48:00 | I just will not help someone if they write in text language. If they wont help I have to be able to read what they are trying to ask for help about. I am not going to waste my time reading a post of text language. Or maybe we should reply back to them in Maori language as it is an official language of New Zealand.:) See how they would like that. Help me to help you so to speak.

2008-01-16 23:18:00 | Txt speak is apparently accepted for NCEA. To some, that is an acceptable judgment on both abominations.

2008-01-17 00:38:00 | It would be difficult to police. I'm sure the mods don't want more on their plate. Why doesn't someone create a new profile and call themselves GrammarCop? viz. wmoore You have to have a good grasp of English,so Jan might the man.
