629982 2008-01-14 01:24:00 I have had a number of dealings with Amazon allied companies. They have all been positive in that if problems arise, a refund has been given without any problem. But since you are dealing with different companies, their level of response may vary. On one occasion, the material did not arrive so another was sent without question. On another, the dvd set contained multiple copies of the same dvd. A refund was given but no offer to send another set. I had to reorder from another company. Although the refund was given, I felt the response could have been better.

Often, the material arrived well before the suggested arrival date. Many of the companies will not send overseas so you may not be able to get the very best price.

629983 2008-01-14 02:01:00 We had some good service from Amazon. They were generally slow (the books arrived via Germany), but goods arrived ok and the prices were decent.

On one occasion my missus (www.imagef1.net.nz) didn't receive her books - never discovered how or why or where they went missing to, but Amazon sent a full replacement package.

629984 2008-01-14 02:09:00 There was a story by a NY Times reporter where he ordered a PS3 for Christmas 2007 for his son. A few days before Christmas, he still hadn't gotten it so he called Amazon who called FedEx.

Their records showed that a neighbor had signed for that package and that in fact it had been delivered. The neighbor said that it was true and that she had left the package outside the reporters door where presumably it had been stolen.

After just one phone call and explaining that truly he hadn't received the parcel and the importance it had for his son, Amazon shipped him a NEW PS3 for free right that day. Now if that isn't service, I don't know what is

Well that's extreme. Good on em. Lets just hope that people don't abuse their honesty system, otherwise like everything else it will be taken away. And the genuine people will miss out.

629988 2008-01-14 09:20:00 Great to hear radium !

I've always found them excellent too . Goods usually arrive very quickly .
Misty :) :)

edit - just saw the comment from gawsxokmijn - not as I understand it . I may stand to be corrected -- there is the central and main company called Amazon --- and there are also appended traders, who you can easily check reliability etc of .

Some of the prices quoted by appended traders are downright silly .
I've always found things much cheaper on ebay .
