But we are all entitled to our opinion on that one.Cheers, Marnie :2cents: Not that I do either...just that there's a high price to pay out either to contestants or the audience...that's all. Somebody's coughing up the bucks and it's the sponsors...ever wonder why a jar of peanut butter costs $12.00? |

So the answer that the money comes from the the advertising breaks seems to be the right answer. Thanks, people. Another mystery solved by the F1 team. |

| 629840 | 2008-01-13 19:06:00 | the SERIOUS money comes, in england from the ad breaks, otherwise the other SERIOUS money comes from selling the show all over the world (for replay so that other networks can broadcast it as they do here) and liscensing it to be run in other countries also in a franchise type of thing......believe me they make a HELL of a LOT of money from the ad breaks on the show in it's 'native' land but they also make SERIOUS money from onselling episodes to many many other countries and also from running cloned versions in other places.... | drcspy (146) | ||

She did her interview and tests (they have to answer so many question right) in NZ and was then invited to be a contestant. They flew her over to Aussie (paid for airfare/accommodation/meals) but she didn't get selected to be in the "hot" seat. She had a nice few days of an all expenses paid trip. She actually asked me to be her "call a friend" person with the idea I was pretty good at using google. I soon managed to convince her that wasn't going to work. Besides, imagine having to face her when she got home if I stuffed it up. |

Early shows seemed to be you phoned up if you wanted to be a contestant. I remember the compere (This on Classic (English)) asking contestants how many times did they phone. My Ex wife phoned on my behalf while I was at work one day for the Australian version. I received a phone call back from them on my mobile. I was not aware she was doing this. I was asked on the phone, "Do you have a current passport?" I did not have a current passport so answering that question put me out even though it was a 100% correct answer. I did pass for one other quiz show in NZ which was dumped off TV anyway several years ago. |
