630280 2008-01-14 22:32:00 Hi Guys

I have been using an old (probably illegal) version Nero.

I use it a lot and decided to buy a copy of the latest version (version 8).

I went to their web site and clicked on download and was told that NZ is not one of the countries that I can download it to !

It looks like you can only d/l Nero to the USA, Canada and Mexico.

I don't really want to buy a boxed copy (freight and delay etc).

So I thought I'd email them to find out if this is the vase.

And like ALL large companies - It is very hard to find an email address and when you do it is for technical support and you need all sort of passwords and required fields.

Why don't these large companies get more friendly ?

630281 2008-01-14 22:35:00 I found that out too this morning to see how much Nero 8 would cost.

If you click on what it said Online store or something. It'll take you to another page.

Saying it'll cost you $99 AU to buy the serial for Nero 8.

Tell us something we don't know!

I'd use a combination of this (cdburnerxp.se/) and this (http:) program. both free and I prefer them to Nero.

630283 2008-01-15 03:43:00 Nero's official status post v6.6 is "bloatware". I'd look at getting lite freeware alternatives like DeepBurner and CDBurnerXP. jason_f90 (3544)
630284 2008-01-15 20:10:00 Uhm, Nero 8 is about 1GB in size. I doubt that you really want to download that anyhow.
Can't you just get a trial & buy the license from them?

630285 2008-01-15 20:13:00 Its 183 mb (the latest version). NOT 1 GB.

That 1 GB file came out way before V8 came out.

And was probably full of bugs and viruses as well.

And it wasnt on the Nero site.

Yes that sounds like a good idea, but what I am saying is that if you go to their web site it is impossible to find out how to do this.

Sorry, I just tried it & see what you mean. By default they only sell to US, Canada & Mexico.

However, you can change the region to Asia-Pacific and that seems to work. Top right corner it has "English - United States and Canada (Change)", click this & change to Australia & NZ - you should be good to go.

630288 2008-01-17 02:50:00 Demo is downloadable and they sell to New Zealand also. Just change the location.

Take a look through your old CD's or DVD's, the last three of DVD Drives I got have had working Nero bundled with them.

630289 2008-01-17 03:53:00 Good point Bantu.

I had not thought of that !

All I really want is Nero 8 Lite. I got a demo of it from Nero's web site and like it as it worked well and did not hang up after burning a DVD.

Then when I go to their web site to register it (buy a rego number) it says they do not support Nero 8 Lite !

So why do they put it on their web site /
