632938 2008-01-22 23:34:00 Internet brand ihug is no more after a decision by owner Vodafone to bring the business under its own banner.

The change marks the end of almost 15 years of the ihug name in the New Zealand telecommunications market.

It's a bit sad that a kiwi icon name gets stomped on by a multinational company, although I guess the kiwi owners sold out yonks ago.

Thats what happens when a kiwi company is sold offshore. It was an 'iconic' name, but it's current owner no longer reflects the type of business that it was setup under, so it is a good thing that they will stop trading under the name.

632947 2008-01-23 06:17:00 what about the Internet?

What about the Internet? They're only changing the branding etc, not shutting down the ISP and all its services.
