2008-01-22 22:55:00 | Maybe not too many people know well enough about Microsoft. Most people I know knows Microsoft as nothing more than their XP on their PCs and that Vista is some kind of skin change. | qazwsxokmijn (102) | |
2008-01-22 23:10:00 | I once tried to get Telecom to justify a usb cable for my Nokia mobile which they wanted $100 for. They said talk to Nokia which I did and they said they made no comments on pricing and speak to Telecom. And anyway the sales people in the Telecom shop were all robots :annoyed: This translates to "Take it or leave it - and we don't care if you don't buy it". Microsoft didn't get to where they are today by charging reasonable prices.

It isn't just restricted to software companies either. However remember that companies can charge what they want, and you don't have to buy. You can also import from the US. It is only a problem if the company is being anticompetitve and restricting competition. |

2008-01-22 23:36:00 | Well Fair Go can't do anything about overseas companies. How about Fair Go bringing up the Limited Liability laws that ensure most companies on Fair Go get away with it time and again? Amend that and it might eliminate the need for a lot of their stories.

2008-01-23 00:36:00 | Well Fair Go can't do anything about overseas companies. I'm sure that MS has a local NZ office with plenty of overpaid execs that the small NZ market has to support.

2008-01-23 00:52:00 | Stop hassling Microsoft, if you dont like the cost etc use another operating system. C1 There isn't any other operating system I can realistically use, as i regularly have to step people through windows operations, therefore I need windows much as i like Linux and OSX until at least 50% of the population are using them they aren't much use to me What is wrong with hassling a company that charges me $400 more for a product than they sell it to a US customer for, It's not as if costs an extra $400 to ship it to NZ from the Malaysian/Chinese sweatshop it is made in than it does to the good ole US of A, and as for hassling Microsoft thats because of the companies mentioned they are the only ones I "have" to buy the products of, with Adobe i can use alternatives, with Symantic i wouldn't touch their AV stuff with a barge pole
