785882 2009-06-25 12:10:00 Hi there,

I'm looking for a external hdd that has eSata. The only eSata HDD's I've seen at the moment are sold on trademe by "sharaz1." I don't really trust trademe that much and the warranty for the HDD is only a year. (No offense to sharaz1)

This is what I'm looking for in the eSata External HDD:

1TB External HDD
eSata
Price Range from $200 to $300

I'm looking for retailers like DSE, Noel Leeming, Harvey Norman, PB Technologies, JB Hi Fi etc.

And also, if anyone has got a eSata HDD is there a major difference in speed for transferring files.

:thanks

Unless you have a significant number of files to backup, I don't really think you need eSATA. I have it on my Seagate FreeAgent but I just use USB and it doesn't really make a difference.

785884 2009-06-25 21:48:00 Esata is much faster than USB. Essentially it is External SATA.

If you're copying large files often, then I highly recommend it.

But, if you won't be moving large files often, USB is good enough

Also, if you can't find a HD that suits you, you can buy a 3.5" SATA drive and a 3.5" case seperate.

Then put it together, usually very simple to do:)

Ah yes the infamous sharaz1, he has a number of other TM names too .
And he is not to be trusted .
You would not get any warranty at all, it may not even work - you won't know that as he doesn't like pickups and he won't allow any testing first anyway .
He is abusive as well .

There are plenty of esata drives around - take a look here:

785886 2009-06-26 01:15:00 If you are in Auckland go to Eden Computers. I am looking at the eSATA/USB2 external HDD case I got off them a while back.

Welland Sunbright 2.5" HDD enclosure

Welland 2.5" USB2.0/eSATA External Hard Drive Enclosure (www.edencomputers.co.nz)

You could even order it online and have it sent to you if not in Auckland.

Ciao

You guys should see this site before buying from sharaz1, farasha, mobiledepot (I think this is a new account). OVER 1000 NEGATIVE FEEDBACKS

trademe-feedback-checker.cccp.co.nz

Shows all the bad feedback in the past from him. Be warned buying from him/her" I have a feeling that the account name "mobiledepot" is sharaz, farasha new account. The seller sells similar items to the false trader sharaz.

I've had a Lacie Brick 250GB for about 3 years now. When I click the button to switch the HDD on, it doesn't switch on. The last person I lended it to was my sister. She has a Powerbook which is using Mac Panther (Really Old Software). Is it because of the Powerbook that my hdd is not working?
