785691 2009-06-25 04:57:00 I have a Canon Pixma MP170. I find it is horrendously heavy on ink usage and the refills are expensive, I do not have a need to print in colour.

Can anyone advise what cheap B/W printer I can get for printing e-mail and reports and is not so costly to run as my present printer? My operating sytem is Vista.

Would an older HP Laser be the answer or is that an expensive way to go?

785693 2009-06-25 05:06:00 The Canon's are generally pretty good as inkjets go, and ink cost for everything has gone through the roof, not just canon.

The printer recommended by inphinity is a good buy.

Brother and HP make inexpensive B/W laser printers ideal for routine printing jobs that don't need colour. I settled for a Brother HL-2140 and have no regrets. Jayess64 (8703)
