| 631666 | 2008-01-22 08:01:00 | Roscoe & Heaton do you not think that there is at least a 50% chance that you are the ones displaying "closed minds"? In the face of solid evidence I am quite prepared to accept telepathy and/or flying saucers et al exist however many years of life lead me to the conclusion that there is no such evidence. The whole argument is pointless unless you prove your points. |

I knew you were going to post that - and next week a Psychic might finally win the lottery and if we're lucky find out what happened at Furneaux Lodge by discovering the mystery ketch. But alas these powers seem to have no practical application other than discovering after the fact that you knew someone was going to ring you. |

When language was evolved and refined it is a man made thing. Our whole system of thinking and logic is a man made thing. I sometimes think that there may be truths which simply don't fit into the man made scheme of things. I know this will evoke cries of scorn derision, and vehement rancor and if I am accused of being an unscientific dreamer then so be it. In this respect I don't think my mind is closed. Indeed it is wide open to all possibilities. My very humble reading of quantum physics and other mind blowing researches gives me a feeling that our present degree of knowledge is by no means complete. |

My very humble reading of quantum physics and other mind blowing researches gives me a feeling that our present degree of knowledge is by no means complete. The very first post that started this off showed a clear cut example of subjective validation - the matching of the clock to the drawing. There has been a fair bit of research on this and people who believe they are psychic make matches like this far more readily than non-psychics - that is most people wouldn't get the "hit" with the clock because they wouldn't keep looking around until they made a match. I tested this for my disertation way back when I was at Uni and people who believed they were psychic could not remote view any better than anyone else, they just always believed they had once shown the drawings. I won't bore you with the experimental methodology but read "The Psychology of the Psychic" if you want to understand how it works. Needless to say this matching of unconnected events is a powerful effect and leads many people to think they are telepathic. |

Perhaps it was beneath most of you to have a look: books.google.com Why don't you have a look? Well I judge myself somewhat higher than you did (thanks for judging me btw, much appreciated, waited my whole life for it, where were you before?) simply because I believe in logical and scientific arguments key to believing such things. Simply the premise that people draw clocks and stop people from killing each other is not enough. Hunches more than anything else. |
